Sector: Various

Every designer knows their initial ideas may never see the light of day, getting lost in files or presentation files. Through a process of client comments, pitch proposals, focus groups or design by committee. Alternative solutions offer a chance to see what could have been, from use of typography to compositional use of elements. This is celebration of the journey and not the destination.

PROJECT 1: Identity directions for Portland based Studio DAD commission for Oregon Zoo. From the initial sketches, evolving a circular zoo symbol to represent the capital letter ‘O’ of Oregon. Embedded within the zoo wording emitting from the centre. The additional identity elements were more playful and colourful to represent the colours and shape language of the animals at the zoo.

PROJECT 2: Creation of brand headline font, reflective of the DNA logo. Varied weights, usage and sizes will create strong and easy to use brand asset in all touchpoints. Allowing the brand to speak in a clear & consistent manner. The brand required a broader identity behaviour style to match our everyday lives. Varied typographic expressions, from Calm to Active. The versatility of the typeface allows multiple expressive forms.
